Geometry Interest and Rates of Return Budgeting Compound Interest Video

Geometry

While reviewing the different genres of mathematics, I originally thought that geometry wouldn't have a whole lot of application in personal finance. However, I realized there was a problem type that would show up often in my geometry classes during my high school mathematics career. These problems had to do with perimeter and area, and using them to calculate costs of fencing, concreting, or sodding projects. Below is an example of one of these problems.

The second paragraph shows the personal finance application to these projects. If you can calculate the cost of these projects, you can use algebra to prepare to save up and pay for these projects in the way that is most financially responsible according to your salary and timeline.
