My Semester Project

Summary

I was looking into ways to solve higher order polynomials. I went on a quest to see if there were equations like the quadratic formula I could use. There are such equations. However, these equations I found were horrible looking and not friendly to use (see Cubic Formula and Quartic Equation ). I figured this was the reason these equations are not found in textbooks- high school or college level. And that other methods that are more practical to use are shown instead. I am familiar with these methods (i.e. factoring, using technology as a tool, synthetic division, etc.). I wanted to know if there were other ways of solving polynomials. That's when I came across Descartes' Method for Constructing Roots of Polynomials.
This site is an interactive site which goes through Descartes' Method to solving for the roots of quadratic polynomials, cubic polynomials, quartic polynomials, quintic polynomials, and sextic polynomials.
