Significance and Applications

When I was brainstorming about what aspect of polynomials I should delve into, my husband asked me, "Well, why do we even use polynomials?" I realized I did not know the answer to that question.
So, in my research I found that polynomials are very easy to use; they are closed under addition and subtraction, and multiplication. Because they are easy to use, a lot of complex problems are broken down and rewritten as polynomials. In this way the complex problem can now be manipulated and used as a simple polynomial. The complexity of these complex problems went way over my head, but it's really cool that polynomials are used for so much! (Polynomials, 2)
