MathisFun.com:
This resource has many resources that can be utilized by teachers. It contains clear explanations about topics falling under
number theory, algebra, geometry, and data measurement. It also contains math puzzels and games that can be utilized
students. The topics under plane geometry found under the geometry link satisfy the Common Core Standard
CCSS.Math.Content.HSG-CO.A.1 . As a
mathematics teacher, I would use this resource as ideas on how to teach mathematics simply. The definitions found on this
resource are straight forward and can be easily understood by students. Also, this could be resource for my student who need
a little extra help outside of class.
Math and the Movies:
This resource uses clips from movies and tv shows to introduce mathematical concepts to students. It has an explanation for
teachers on how to use the clips and contains a list of movie and tv show clips that could potentially be used to introduce
topics such as logical reasoning or projectile motion. A relevant Common Core Standard to this resource is
CCSS.Math.Content.HSF-LE.B.5 .
As a teacher, I would use this resource to show students how math appears in the "real world" and to introduce new topics in
a fun way. Hopefully, introducing math concepts by showing a clip of a familar movie or tv show will increase student
interest in the topic.
Math.com:
This resource contains ideas for teachers and homework help for students. The homework help contains many different
subjects that student may struggle with. It also contains table and calculators that cover many different subjects.Teachers
can use this website to find lesson plans and other internet resources to use in the classroom. The overveiw of trigonometry
found under homework help covers the Common Core Standard CCSS.Math.Content.HSG-SRT.C.6 . As a teacher, I could use this internet resource and a place for
ideas on lesson plans and to find other resources. Also, this could be used by students who need extra help outside of
class when studying or completing homework assignments.
Lesson Plans from UEN :
This resource provides teachers with multiple lesson plans on multiple subjects ranging from Math 7 to Precalculus. The
lesson plans cover various Common Core Standards, including CCSS.Math.Content.HSF-BF.A.1 covered by the Composite Functions lesson plan under the section Algebra
2. As a mathematics teacher, I could use this resource to find ideas on how to teach different subjects within the classroom.
TeacherVision :
This resource contains "lesson plans, printables, and more" for many different contents. It contains many resources that
can be used to connect mathematics and other subjects, such as history, music, or art. A Common Core Standard that is
covered by this resource is CCSS.Math.Content.HSN-RN.B.3
with a printable on rational and irrational numbers. As a teacher, I could use this resource for ideas to teach
connections between math and other subjects. This could help students see connections between math and their other classes.
Math Teacher Mambo :
This internet resource is a high school math teacher's blog. It has posts about her experience as a math teacher and
worksheets she uses in her classes. A post from March 24, 2012 about logarithms pertains to the Common Core Standards
CCSS.Math.Content.HSF-LE.A.4 and
CCSS.Math.Content.HSF-LE.B.5 . As a
teacher, I could use this resource for ideas on how to teach topics and to learn from the experience of another math
teacher.
Fast Times of a Middles School Math Teacher :
This resource is a middle school math teacher's blog. It has posts about ideas on how to teach different topics in the
