Applet Collections

Java : There are 279 applets for use in the middle school all the way up to conics and complex numbers.

Larry Green's Applet Page : Larry Green put together an applet page for many mathematical subjects.

Flash Mathlets : The University of Rhode Island has this webpage of applets for learners, especially those who are learning calculus and statistics.

MIT Mathlets : MIT Mathlets has good applets that have to do with applications for math.

Math Explorations : These applets are a good practice for those learning precalculus and calculus.

Applets

Function Machine : This applet gives one the opportunity to learn about functions. It gives a few numbers to put through the machine and then one can finish filling out the table using a pattern from the function.

Transformations-Rotation : This applet helps one see how particular shapes compared with an angle.

Practice Sketching Derivatives : This applet helps learners of calculus practice sketching derivatives.

Interactive Histogram : For those studying statistics, this applet is a helpful way to go over histograms.

ABCsinX : Graphing sine functions are made easier through this applet.

Internet Resources

Math tutorials, resources, help, resources and Math Worksheets : This resource is a place to find extra worksheets and other resources such as online calculators. It can be used to direct students to a source for extra help and practice.

Careers in Math : The different careers that mathematics degrees can get is summarized in this website. I can use this website to help students see what careers one can get with a mathematics degree.

Purplemath : This resource is a great place to go for extra help, explanation, and practice. I would direct my students to this website if they felt like they needed extra practice. I could also use some of the material from this website in my class for extra explanation and help.

Math Goodies : This resource is a great place for extra help, with lessons and worksheets. I could show these lessons and worksheets to my students as an extra place for them to go to for extra help.

Online Fraction Calculator : This resource is a good place to go for help with fractions. I could show it to my students so that they can check their answers for homework.

Solve Me Maybe : This video is a fun way to remember how to solve equations. It gives a fun, popular song that students will remember to solve equations. I could show it to my students to make solving equations be not as scary.

Do The Quad Solve : This video helps students learn how to factor using a fun song. I can show this to my students for an introduction to factoring.

Teach Me How To Factor : This video is a fun song for students to learn how to factor. I could use it as another introduction to factoring.

Cool Cat Teacher Blog : This blog has lesson ideas for teachers. I could implement some of these ideas in my classroom if I'm looking for some more ideas.

Real World Math Problems : This resource is a great place to go for some real world problems that use math. I could use this resource to illustrate how math is actually used in this world.

Graphing polynomials using zeros and their multiplicities : This worksheet allows students to to play with polynomials in a different form. It helps them see how the zeros play a factor in the graphing of the polynomial. I think this app would be able to help students see polynomials differently as it helped me see polynomials in a different form. It gives students a chance to play with the app and see how the graph would change.

Equation of a Circle : This worksheet allows students to see how the equation of a circle will change depending on the center and radius of that circle. I really like how this worksheet allows students to play with the center and radius and notice how that changes the equation. This would help students see how to write the equation of a circle given the radius and center.

Absolute Value Function Inequality Solver : This app shows how transforming an absolute value function changes the graph. It also shows the solution to f(x) greater than zero or greater than or equal to zero. The thing that intrigues me about this app is the way that it shows how an absolute value function changes when transformed.

Normal Probabilities Between Two Numbers : This stats worksheet shows students how to find the normal probability between two numbers by having them pick their own two numbers and seeing how to find the area between them. I really like how this app spells it out pretty plainly how to find the area between two numbers so that students can then do it on their own using a z-table.

Exterior Angles of Polygons : This worksheet helps students see that the sum of the exterior angles of a convex polygon is 360 degrees. It gives them an opportunity to play with the polygon and see how that sum changes when the polygon is not convex. I really like this app because of the animation involved with it and how it shows the measurements of the exterior angles.
