I have always had a difficult time with the idea of logarithms. Not really the concept of how to use them or manipulate equations using different logarithm properties, but my confusion came from not understanding the application of them. The only purpose I could ever come up with was the composition of an exponential function with its inverse, a logarithmic function, to find that which was previously very difficult to determine.

But I knew there must be something more!
